SAROS field/works is a Minneapolis-based platform for Indigenous-led performance, research, and community activation. Founded by Sam Aros-Mitchell, the organization operates at the intersection of choreography, ceremony, and experimental practice—supporting artists whose work moves across disciplines, geographies, and ways of knowing.

Rooted in the framework of Performance as Ceremony, SAROS field/works cultivates spaces where movement, sound, and story function as living practices rather than fixed products. Projects often emerge through process-driven research, bringing together Indigenous and BIPOC artists to explore embodiment, land-based knowledge, and contemporary performance methodologies. The work prioritizes presence, relationality, and the activation of space—inviting both artists and audiences into shared experiences that resist extraction and emphasize continuity, care, and attention.

SAROS field/works produces festivals, workshops, residencies, and public performances, including initiatives like the Native Joy Play Festival and NE/X: A Festival of Indigenous Performance. These programs center Indigenous excellence, experimentation, and joy, while creating accessible entry points for community engagement and dialogue.

At its core, SAROS field/works is not just a producing entity but a field of practice—one that supports the development of new work, nurtures artistic kinship, and advances Indigenous futurities through embodied, collaborative, and place-responsive performance.
